Default Reptile Cymru Rescue: Beardies

It is sad that something so easy to look after and hardy as bearded dragons can still end up neglected and in a sorry state.

I still have two adult females that were available before for rehoming - one with hip problems, the other recovering from very severe MBD, both with large appetites and quite large needing at least a 4 x 2 x 2 to be housed together. Both must NEVER be bred from as this would cause great risk to their health! (one egg binding because of her hip damage, and the other because of her MBD the calcium requirements).

The one with the hip damage was overbred considerabley resulting in her damage and weight loss, breeding 5 clutches a year since she was just 8 months old before we rescued her. The other was kept in a fish tank with no UVB and a light bulb on 24/7 for three years before she was rescued!! These girls get on well together and ideally I'd like them to go together but may split.

I also have two that were rescued in recently, these were described as "6 months" but are the size of 6 week old babies! They have only been fed on mealworms and from the looks of things, not very often at all. They do eat hoppers and crickets fine now but I strongly suspect these will always be stunted. They are not sexed as they are so small and if a male and female I very much doubt the female would ever be egg laying size and thus would need to be seperated. Can go together or seperate. I do not know if 6 months with no growth because of lack of food will have shortened their lifespan

If you can help, we are in Cardiff and may ask a small rehoming fee - please contact. We may ask to see your setups first. We can sell full setups if you do not have one at very good prices.

No timewasters, if you're willing to give a much needed permanent home to animals that have suffered greatly due to negligence and ignorance, please contact me
