Default CB Uroplatus Guentheri FS

I have for sale my young Uroplatus Guentheri.

I believe S/he is around 6 months old. I got two from Jody Ettema who is a member on here. Unfortunately one died, and I don't have the time or money to attempt to breed these.

Ideally i'd like it to go to someone who has experience and the opportunity to breed them, as they are not available - the lack of availability is the reason for the lack of interest in these fascinating geckos.

They are the hardiest of the Leaftails, so I would be willing for the right person without experience to buy, if we could chat first.

Can deliver locally otherwise pickup. Will come in the faunarium.

Offers welcome, cheers

James

Do you have any idea on the sex of this little one? I have an adult male guentheri at the moment, and have got some youngsters booked for Hamm in Sept....

I, and another Uroplatus keeper believe it to be female! There is no signs of a bulge or pores so hopefully she's a she.

I wasn't aware of them being on CITES, but if they are, wouldn't it only cover WC animals being exported from Madagascar? These are Captive Bred in NL I believe. No CITES was provided to me or my courier.

I don't think you need CITES for Uroplatus, they are CITES appendix 2, along with things like iguanas etc. Only need a cert for CITES 1 I think.

CITES II
International trade in specimens of Appendix-II species may be authorized by the granting of an export permit or re-export certificate

CITES I
They are threatened with extinction and CITES prohibits international trade in specimens of these species except when the purpose of the import is not commercial

Uroplatus are under Appendix II. If they are captive bred in NL, I think Biohazard may be right in saying CITES documentation is not necessary. I will speak to the seller though, to see exactly what he provided to LIZARD.
