Announcement: You MUST state a price when listing a classified advert
We are now asking that people state a price for their items for sale rather than post "Contact for a price list". We feel that this helps keep classified adverts easy to use for our members and helps us to ensure that adverts are genuine and that the other classified rules (such as bumping) are being kept. It is unfair to other users when one person will have an advert bumped dozens of times in a day simply because people are asking "What is the price of this". It is a tactic that unfortunately can impact many other sellers on the classifieds.
If there is a reason that you do not know a price for what you are selling please state it clearly in the advert. A moderator may still close this and ask you to name a region of offers. Stating "offers in the region of £100" (example) is acceptable. If you are genuinely confused about the value of the item; try posting a thread in the relevant section (snakes, lizards, equipment) etc. and ask for the advice of users. For example, you can start a thread in snakes with the question "What do you guys think is a fair price for a yearling corn snake with a 2ft tank." This way you may get an idea of what to list your item for - however, do note, the actual sale must still be placed in the classified section.
You are not obligated to accept a sale because someone has offered you the price listed; you are still entitled to choose the buyer or accept higher or lower offers on the value.
If your item has no price listed a moderator may close the thread; or send you a friendly reminder PM. If you wish to update your thread and it is locked you can report the thread and the first available moderator for your section will update it. If your thread is not locked and you wish to update the price or details you can reply to your own thread.
For clarification, you do not have to wait 24 hours (bumping rule) to reply to your own thread IF you are updating with important/relevant information, ie. if the price changes or you wish to add a price because you have been asked to do so by a moderator, but it is better to report the post and ask a moderator to update the original to avoid any confusion with your potential buyers.
If your reason for not posting a price is that you are uncertain what the exchange rate is, or that you are concerned that your country's exchange rate is fluctuating please feel free to state the price in your currency, as long as you clearly state what currency it is. You can then offer an exchange rate on the day of confirmation of sale.
Thank you for respecting this rule, as with all our classified rules we have implemented it to try and keep this active section working as smoothly and fairly for everyone.
