Nice bluey!, Looks to be a possible hybrid IMO,
He looks to be showing New Guinea BTS(T.SP) or Eastern BTS(T.S.S) traits and Merauke BTS(T.G.E) traits.

Hi Gazz,

I agree, the skink does show traits of Irian Jaya, Eastern and Merauke. Of course given that the Irian Jaya is thought to be a scincoides-like form of Tiliqua gigas evanescens (from the Merauke region of south east West Papua) would explain that! 100% Irian jaya in my view.

Mark.

Next time I pop in the shop Im going to have to get a snap of the sibling, hes just, Merauke. Is it possible for two different sub species to breed and produce both Merauke and IJ babies Mark?

Best Regards,
Joe

Not in my opinion, To me they are very differant, Merauke bts ofcourse a member of Gigas. But New Guinea bts IMO are the New Guinea form of the Eastern bts so a Scincoides member. The problem is they are all cross making very hard to ID half of them as Indonesian X Merauke, Indonesian X New Guinea, Merauke x New Guinea etc. Happen in captivity and it's very possible they could happen in the wild.

Typical Merauke bts(T.G.E).

Typical New Guinea(T.S.Sub'SP),IMO.

No, But the hybrid offspring can take influance of either parent, Looking more like one then the other in varyed percentage.
And looking differant to there siblings. Some looking more Merauke and others more New Guinea.
