I just recently got a female bosc monitor and she's brilliant, love her. i was given a care sheet with it, but you can find it at CARESHEET BOSC MONITOR
Its true about the boiled egg bit in the care sheet, mine loves them.
i'm gonna hopefully get a leash for mine so if we get a nice warm summer she can come to the park and lose het gut (she's a bit fat)

Boscs are great, but can like everything be very temperamental.

Definitely read around the literature, and if you can meet the bosc before hand so you have some idea what he is like mood wise.

Hope this helps

loads of advice on the thread, just use the search button at top of forum and type in bosc. also theres a couple of very good bosc keepers on here - razaiel is just one.. and they are always about if you have a query. how big is the adults set up (how big of an adult is it) and what exactly is in the set up?

Good idea.

Once tamed down a bit and a goo enough size Boscs love to get out and about in parks when it's sunny. Be prepared to be the talk of the park!

i'm not an advocate of walking in the park - dont need the negative publicity! i do agree that natural sunlight is brilliant for them, just make sure it's hot enough and let them out the back - supervised, of course!

if u take ur bosc out tho dont let it walk on concrete, it damaged skin under there feet and can cause bad sores and even cuts and grazes

My two would peg it if i took em to the park! Would never get them back! Really wouldn't recommend the park even with a leash..they can wiggle out of them. However the garden is a good idea..in the summer when it's hot enough they love a bask..even then you have to keep a close eye on the critters!

Talking

To be fair when i take her to the park i'll be keeping a firm eye on her to make sure she dosn't escape from the leash, and to be honest i doubt she could, its a simular design to the one's you'd use on a ferret and they're escape proof my mate tells me (he keeps ferrets) i call her monica(the monitor) she's been on the bed asleep while i'v been watching tv, i think i got lucky when i got her because she's really mellow and loves it when you rub behind her ears. i'll get some pics up soon.

Daniel Bennett's book on Varanus exanthematicus is very good.

Re taking Boscs outdoors, I noticed that when I took one of mine outside he would definitely change, becoming more feisty and aggressive in sunlight. This observation was made many decades ago and has been confirmed since by other writers (eg Loveridge). Something to bear in mind!

Once I got him back inside he would eventually calm down.

They are certainly characters.
