Default Does anybody's Asian water dragon eat.....?

does anybody's Green water dragon, eat fruit and vegetables as well as the usual pinky's, crickets, locusts, mealworms ...etc

mine sometimes does but only if i offer it by hand, (she only eats from hands) just curious because many care sheets say that they eat many fruits and vegetables.

Nope, mine dont "do" veg at all! they will eat lots of insects and love worms and roaches. just make sure you gut load the insects with the fruit and veg you would like your dragons to eat, and they will still be getting all of the nutrition.

Hi i don't have water dragons but i have 3 green basilisks, and they are very similar if not identical in the requirements of a water dragon, tall viv, water, lots of space etc....

also their diets are the same, and recently i have been giving mine fruit and dandilion (sorry bout spelling) leaves, out of the 3 only the females seem to bother eating them the male doesn't, 1 female seems to love them and waits for me to put them in lol, the other isn't so keen and will occasionally nibble at some banana, but the male doesn't.

My explination for this is, that the females were introduced to fruit at a young age where as the male never was, so if you have had your water dragon from a young age, or not do you know if he was ever introduced to fruit before??

Ours eats a bit of both fruit and leafy veg, from what i gather fruit is more readily accepted by most.
I dont think a waterdragon that doesnt eat fruit or veg will be missing anything important nutrition wise.. but then who knows?
We offer our waterdragon a mix of fruit and leafy greens 2-3 times a week.
