Default Morio Worms Help Please

Ok sligh problem I was just surfing a website looking for some Fire belly toads - and I came accross the live food section...

I saw morio worms and I looked at them.... and I thought umm ok Iv heard about these apparently they eat away inside your lizard !

My problem is about a week ago my Mum went the rep shop to get some MEAL WORMS for my BD to put in his veg....

now iv never seen a morio worm only heard about them as far as I new the worms we got were Meal worms now looking at this pic I can see its morio worms we have...

im a touch concerned hehas eaten a few of these whilst trying to get him to eat his veg..

Nothing is going to happen to him is it ? he had a poo yesterday and was very lively but im now worried as - as far as I knew they were MEal Worms

My leos have also had them but I was concerned the size of them were to big for my leo so i kinda fished out the small ones in the tub I crushed there heads as there nippers seemed a bit big on a leo but my BD has eaten them with a none cruchsed head

I heard you have to crush morio heads to avoid problems but the reason I crushed these heads is there nippers did look rather big for supposed meal worms

I have heard those stories too - but my sav and even my little rankins dragons have eaten them for years - no problems I just don't give the rankins too many in one go as sometimes one may really pig out so I tend to give a few then let them digest before giving more. Probably not really necessary.

When I first got into reptiles years ago I heard this, told how you had to crush their heads before they eat them to stop it happening. I suppose it could happen but I think its hugely an Urban Myth.

i reckon it would only happen if it does at all if your rep is a bit ill and its stomach ph was off or something? The same stories are told in the bird keeping circles about it happening to birds so maybe there is some truth in it?

i heard it when i got my first leo from the snake shop in sheffield and he said it was a myth, same as impaction. i think its a case of it might happen but the risk is both ways. sand looks good but dangerous. morio worms are big and filling but dangerous.
btw, ive seen a small juvie leo eat one. was weird

Do you really think these things would still be sold if they could eat there way out of a reps stomach?

They're quite big so make sure what you feed them to can handle the size.

If you have had mealworms before and couldn't notice the difference then I suggest a new pair of glasses.
