ive read a few articles on this subject and have found that gilas and beaded lizards have pits on the bottom teeth which the venom comes out of and it only happens if they chew unlike front fanged snakes that have hollow fanges so the venom comes out imediatly when they bite,
so like the gilas and beaded`s im sure other monitors must be the same they allso have pits on the bottom part of of there teeth so it must only come out when chewing
another fact i found was theyre useing lizard venom to combat diabetes how goods that

yeah unlike snakes, lizards venom glands are in their lower jaws.

the venom in gilas and beaded lizards is called horridum toxin im not sure if it might be the same in all lizards but less potent as you dont find that particular type of venom in snakes

i found this while searching if you scroll to page 4 for it will show a diagram of a gilas tooth structure and where the venom ducts are in lizards

It was first thought about because of the speed the *bite* took to effect the victim....
Bacteria is a slow poisoning and these guys were going down quicker than that
