Default how old is too old to breed?

how old is too old for a female leo to breed? i've got a female age 11...shes very healthy but obviously dont want to risk her well-being. is egg binding more likely with age? or just infertility. also i think she may b a lil over weight, whats the best weight to breed at? cheers

any weigth over 55g but everyone is different..

i have heard its at 14 years they "stop" but agfain, this changes with each female..
if she has been alone for a while, then i would prob leave it like it is, she is prob now looking forward to a "retirement"..lol

have you had her all her life?..

reason i ask is if you dnt know her history she could have been breed at a young age, and 11 years is an elderly age, and she could just want to rest, another factor is she may not be breedable etc..
these are justa few "maybe's" dont take my word for it, but ask previouse owner..

Tom

i've had her for the full 11 years, may be 12 starting to loose count. she just lost her friend to impaction last night, we think it was impaction, so now she seems all lonely. also found out that who we thought was a dud he is a she. so wondered if breeding would be possible. doesnt matter if nothing comes from it just thought it would b nice for her to have some company and get some action, lol. thing is shes a big female, very stocky, and can be rather speedy so doubt a male would get a chance in the 4' tank, lol.

well he WOULD do it if he wanted unless she is a "Hot".. 4ft+ 2 leo's= lots of play time!

i would leave her to it, why risk breeding when the extra stres could push her over the edge..
get anothe female, same size, make sure she is not gravid, and see how they get along, or find a "dud" male..but he may still persist to mount her...lol

duds fine with me, i'll think on, might borrow a male off a friend to see what happens. i'm on study leave so i can keep a close eye (not perve just observe) if there's too much play time and she seems to suffer then i might get a female. just seems a shame to have a big tank with one guy in it.
