Default mealworm help

I've been feeding my Leo mealworms, just letting them loose in the tank and he always eats them, but i've read you shouldn't let them loose and they should always be fed from a dish, is this true??

It's just incase the mealies escape and do not get eaten, they wil burrow into the substre and may possibly eat the tender parts of you rep, e.g. eyes nose ect.

the other problem is, it the leo doesnt have good aim, they may just get a gobfull of substrate, and if this happens to often impaction may occur, i feed my beardie outside of his viv when its mealies, im guessing you could do the same fore your leo.

OK thanx, i have him on kitchen roll but will be putting him on to tiles later when he gets older, hopefully this will still be ok to let them loose in the viv. I always remove them if he hasn't ate them all overnight but he normally clears his viv!

we found a little pile of sawdust under a hide one day when cleaning. a stray mealie had burrowed its way into the wood and was busy chomping away. i'm always worried about losing them in the viv 'decor' now.

We feed all our geckos on meal worms, put them in a dish with a little bit of dry food, it works for us

put enough in for a feed and dont use a substrate then you will keep any problems to a minimum, if you have cork bark in viv they will bore into it and emerge as beetles can be a pain if you use the bark in a setup later
