Default What do i do next? (shop owners, beardie owners and so on)

Well i know we shouldnt come on here and rant about other shops, but im not ranting i need to help these poor animals..

Short story..

I have been goign to this shop for around 8 years getting live food. (they have never sold reptiles). This year they have started to do reptiles, they dont seem to know anything about them, but they are new to it, and maybe it would get better? i had mentioned a few things in the past..etc etc..

well today i went in to get some mealies, and i saw the beardie (who has been in there for AGES) looked a little odd, the back was slightly curved? anyway, i looked closer at her viv (which isnt suitable, no hides, no uv, no water bowl, no food, wrong substrate and about 1.5 feet..) by the way i dont claim to be a beardie expert here!! and i saw 4 eggs....andn dry and had deflated... anyway, i went to the owner, and said your beardie is laying eggs... he said '' oh i dont want them'' and i said '' i could incubate them fr you if you like?'' and he said ''i dont want them'' and i said... ''well the best thing to have in there is a egg box for her to lay in as she could get egg bound...'' and he said '' well she has been layign them over the last few weeks, and i dont want them'' and just looked evil. he was REALLY annoyed that i had said something... he isnt going to do anythign about it, the beardie isnt in the right enclosure, she is laying without an egg box, its just not on...

now there are some tortoises but i know nout about them... and a leo, the leo is about 2 months isg old, tiny, in a viv with nothing but a light, and bark chips.. no food and green water..

now i have said what i think, i gave him advise and he isnt going to do anything about it..

i thought he was just a little ''not so good '' at the reptile thing, not on purpose not horribly but by accident, but now i actualy think he doestnt care..

i cannot go to him again and say what i think, so the next step, RSPCA? Council? i want something that will work quickly fast, and hopefully will stop him 'doing' reptiles..

Council and report him firsat then RSPCA, the RSPCA are pretty useless though but he might think its not worth the hassle of keeping them then
good luck with that.

I've heard the RSPCA isn't the best place to contact, seeing how they, themselves lack knowledge about reps, it would be better to try and hunt down a reptile rescue around your area, and inform them about whats going on, and the council is also a good idea, but again im not to sure on whether or not they will actually do anything...

Good luck however

The RSCPA aren't always best but they do have the power to seize animals that are not cared for correctly. Plus a lot of RSPCA centres have reptile experts to call in for advice.
