can be very tricky to introduce new females to a pair..is not as simple as stick them together as the dominant female will often have something to say about it...usually when introducing a new female it is a slow and diligent process of letting them see each other before any actual meeting...
why has the female become aggressive? is she gravid? |

i dont keep chams but i've read alot of things saying that they are solitary animals and you shouldnt even put they're vivs were thay can see each other, let alone put them in the same one , unless its massive and they can get well away from each other.

there is a lot of misinformation is all!! you are not wrong
..long as the viv is big enough and has enough foliage then you can keep pairs..most people do not recommend it because the female can get stressed when gravid...however in the wild they are nearly always gravid and they have means of stopping a males forward advances!! ![]() |

Ok just done some serious cramming here and there IS the possiblility of being gravid.... time scale seems about right anyway.... can get gravid from 4 months? right?
So what size would i need the pairs viv to be IF i were to keep them together? Also can I keep the 2 females together in one viv and the male seperated and introduce the females when needed? Sorry if these seem stupid questions i'm still doing the research here :-( |

i would assume she is gravid if she is getting aggressive...yeah 4 months is not unheard of...usual 5/6 months but it can happen if looked after well
if she is gravid they get very grumpy and she will not tolerate another female unless she knows her... does she have dark green dots or blue and yellow/brown dots? the females can certainly be kept together but a gravid female will not accept anyone else...you could try slowly introducing the other female but do not stress the dominant female out as this can cause problems with egg laying...they need to see each other before actually meeting. is the other female in a sep viv? if so put the viv near the other one so they can all see each other... you can keep three yemens in a 5x3x2 viv...bigger the better..my pairs are kept in 3x3x2 vivs but there is a lot of foliage meaning that there sre loads of hiding places... |

She has yellowy stripes down her at the mo.... just a couple of them. The male is really showing his colours though!
TBH think the gravid theory is sound and I'm in process of moving them into a 4x3x3 viv now! Is the nighttime temp drop nessecary for incubation of the eggs? Cheers Andy |
