Default Background to a Viv

Alright folks.

A stupid question, perhaps.

Everyone knows ya can buy them viv backgrounds (similar to fish tank ones) in multiple shops... but my questions.

1. I was told there is no adhesive side to stick them to the inside of the viv, they are usually stuck on the outside of the tank, and thus it must be a glass tank?!?!?

I am using a wooden viv (glass sliding doors on front)

There is 3 vents at the top at the rear... if I do manage to get a background, do I fit it from the floor, up until the vents only (as you could not cover them completely)...

Sorry for my stupidity but it is Monday!!

I have this in he back of my viv, they feel a bit like polystyrene.
They don't have anything to stick them with, I used double sided tape.
Mine doesn't quite reach the top and Oz climbs up and lays across the top of the background
I have a glass viv so didn't have vents to worry about, but you could line the backing up and then mark where the vents are and cut holes to suit in the background

I just use aquarium glue to stick it, and measure up and cut around the vents.

I have a desert background in George's wooden viv. I have done it from the floor up to the vent at the top (it runs the full length of the viv) and my husband stuck it on with sellotape and I've never had a problem with it, apart from the fact that it has now started flaking a bit at the top where the UV light is.

I use this polystirene (excuse lame attempt at spelling) Its real good as he can climb up it and get closer to his uv if he wants and clings on and sleeps on it!

I thought about that polystyrene (wrongly spelt again!) climbing wall stuff... either that or just a "desert background"... (since I finally got my natural slate tiles on the floor at the weekend)...

My viv is 2.5ft tall, and my uv strip light hangs down (against the back) about half way... so my DIY skills would have to attach it somehow

and I worry that it is not close enough for beardies to reap benefit of it!
