Default Ever been bitten?

Seeing as this thread is raging on the snake forums I thought I'd see what the bite rate was like over here on lizards!

I've been bitten too many times to remember, although my best bites to date;
  • On my left breast by a fully grown female B&W tegu who wouldn't let go. Very painful, very messy, very embarrassing.
  • Spending Xmas Eve 2006 in A&E having the end of my finger stitched back on after a bad tempered subadult iggie got the better of me.

Well I would imagine different species have different strengths etc. But I can tell you Adult Beardy bites are worse than Baby Tegu bites.

I've been bitten by a Leopard gecko three times in quick succession. I don't THINK I've been bitten by the crested, but not 100%. Not been bitten by the beardie but been mauled by her claws

It really depends, if its a bite that they don't really want to bite you (i.e a warning bite) it doesn't hurt at all, almost feels like they head butted you. If its a bite that they're saying off! Well, in my experience it felt like it was pinching me.

My gecko's even when shedding never get aggressive. When I first got my first one it hissed but once it got used to me it was fine.

When I 'have' to take them out for cleaning I put my hands under them, like a cup, and they just walk on.

I think both my Beardie bites were accidents, me being careless when handfeeding.
