Default Breeding advice anyone?

i have 2 beardies and i think they've mated and she is due tomorrow. at the lastminute a guy who i get my beardie stuff from has told me i need to take the male out of the tank for a few months so the female can lay her eggs and then build up her strength again.

does anyone know if this is true?

It's a very good idea to! If you don't she could end up producing eggs until she's literally too weak to produce any more. It's not recommended to allow a female to breed more than once a year. Chances are she will produce at least two clutches of eggs from this mating anyway...

You don't always feel eggs before she lays then...

It's not a good idea to keep males and females together year-round; you can get overbreeding problems, like you mentioned in your first post. Some males don't react well to the female saying "no" to them - earlier on in the year there were a couple of people on here who had males taking feet / limbs / tails off of a female because he wanted to mate and she didn't.

i was told they's breed 3 times a year and i know it would shorten the life span of the female but they get on well although he does still try to breed with her
