Default Panacur

Would you say Panacur at a dilution of 10% is too strong for leos?
Ive always been used to 2% but the vet has said 10% would be fine.

Ok, so did he do fecals and say use 10%? If so use 10%, as he/she has seen and diagnosed the animal.

I would strongly suggest that RFUK members are not vets and so cannot give this type of advice.

id say 10% is a lil too high seen as how cats and dogs take like 10% - 18% depending on where from.

but yeah 10% seems a bit much for an animal that is so small
considering that you only give them one line on the syringe per every kilo

Oh no im not asking people to diagnose a problem... as a matter of fact there isnt one. We are just taking precautions now and worming our geckos in the winter before we breed them.
He's recommended 10% as it will give us a shorter period of treatment and eliminate slightly more using a smaller dose.
I was just only used to 2% and wondered whether anyone else had ever had to use diluted panacur at 10%

10% is simply 4x the strength of the 2.5% solution, so the dosage that your vet has provided you should be based on it being 4x stronger (hypothetically 4x less). The strength shouldn't matter as long as you have the correct dosage based on the weight/condition of the animal.

Sorry but worming captive bred leos as a precaution just seems like over kill.

I have used 10% on reptiles on many occasions but was obviously a much smaller dose than 2% would be. If you know your vet and trust him/her do what he/she says if not check with another vet.

Why is worming ott?
When it comes to breeding you leave your reptiles immunes systems down. Worming does the reptiles no harm so its better to be safe than sorry in my opinion!
