Default Substrate for Cresties + pics of setup?

I am getting my first crestie tomorrow, a stunning dalmation!! Can't wait

I was wondering what people use or thinknis the best substrate for cresties. I have been told orchid bark but I would like some other opinions.

Also if anyone has any pics of their crestie set up that would be great. I'm getting an exo terra 30x30x45 and have bought some jungle vines and various exo terra fake plants, any other ideas woukld be great.

I use repti carpet with mine and use tubs full of soil and moss on top for females to lay their eggs.

Its easier to clean and much easier to find eggs.

For young cresties you should use kitchen roll as they can ingest substrates.

If your crestie is older try eco earth as this is organic and sterile also if they eat it during feeding it will pass through with no issues.

Try and avoid bark and this has the possibility to cause impaction of the gut.

For my older cresties I use eco earth, moss and some pebbles. I find it looks really good this way. For younger ones I usually just use some kitchen roll but the stronger stuff that doesn't break up when wet.

what stronger stuff Joel... sounds like that might be good if i know what to buy

I hadnt thought of using repti carpet sarah.. i use kitchen towel with earth boxes for laying too..

i did have them on compacted down eco earth but have since changed as im a bit paranoid about substrate issues at present

Its a bit more expensive than the tissue kind. Its alot stronger, kind of like a handkerchief material. Mine is green and white checked, I cant seem to find it on the net. It doesn't pull apart and you can wash it rather than throw it away. I only wash it once/twice b4 i throw it tho. Ill see if I can find the packet.
