As always said on here it would be better if you could go larger for a pair as males in particular when adult can get to 4ft or slightly over , i know iv got to make my mangroves viv larger within the next few months as there both starting to gain size and weight

Looking good Danny mate , (camera tip , if you switch the lights off and leave just the uv light on while taking photo's it gets rid of the yellowish hue) great shots though ad looking really healthy and bright eyed

Default Inteligence (unfortunately i have none and cant spell)

I know that monitors/tegu's are some of/if not the most intellegent of the lizard family. But how do they show it to you?

Since having my tegu (under a year) i know that he knows the difference between his drinking water bowl and the two food bowls. One food bowl is the same colour as the water bowl and the other is a shiny metal bowl. He doesn't even bat an eyelid when the water bowl comes passed his viv front, but if its the food bowl he eaglery spying as to quickest he can get to it (this is when viv doors are shut, so sense of smell will somewhat be depleated)
When we have bath time, he seems to know as i get a little squirm as i wrap him in his towel and walk downstairs with him, i do sometimes just bring him down stairs anyway to have a change of scenary-but he seems to know when its bath time.
Once in the bath he'll have a swim around, bob his head up and look around and over the edge a few times, occassionally trying to jump out.
We now have a system for letting him come out of his own choice. i sit on the edge of the bath, have a towel across my lap and let some of it hang over into the bath. He knows that i'll hold on tight enough across my lap that he can climb up and out the bath and onto my lap for a rub down and if needed some moisturising. This often leads to us sitting on the floor and where he prefers to be and on the odd ocassion he has then climbed back up me (claws and all) and jumped back in the bath!!

Your stories.....?

I'm sure MM and chucky will have some awesome ones of intellegence, perhaps a argus tripoding to see whats for tea, or a mangrove jumping out for a cuddle??

My bosc seems to know the little pink bowl that is used to heat up his fluffs. The click of the kettle seems to get a little response too.

All these great looking monitors are making me inpatient! Picking up my first a week tomorow, a 1 year old male Ackie.
If space ever permitted i would love some of the larger ones, alas the biggest viv i can accomodate is max5-6ft so ackies it is!

You have a lot to answer for Steve!
