columbians tend to be alot more aggressive well, defensive anyway then argentines, and if common sense was used then there is no problems having the tegu, have a lock on the viv, don't let the baby near the tegu and there wont be able to have any issues, tegus generally have amazing feeding responses, and even the tamest tegu will bite when its hungry, and i found tegus tend to be hungry alot of the time, regardless how much they are fed, they always want more, very greedy animals normally lol

Couldn't resist that beauty.

I was wondering if some of you have some must-reads in your favorites that you can link me?
Thanks

I've read trough The Savannah Monitor, Varanus Exanthematicus once more and everything is fresh in my head now.
He's housed in a 100cmx50cmx50cm enclosure right now but it should only take a couple days.

I got a badass idea on how to make his enclosure and it'll be around 300cmx100cmx100cm (thats about 10 x 3.5 x 3.5)

After reading alot on here decided to go for the hands of approach and it has payed of very quickly. She will now stay out of her hides for most of the day even when there is alot of traffic walking past her viv. Also managed to get a 5 min stroke in before i got hissed at and she walked off. Have been hand feeding for the last 2 weeks but have started to sound train her so when i go in with food i make a certain noise. So far have managed to keep all my fingers Lol. This is mozza I'm guessing at female due to head shape and when she popped although her bit stuck out i couldn't see the hermipenes.

Although i have reasearched all that i could in regards to the size she will grow, the space required, and the food needed but i don't think anything will prepare you for the truth. She has easily grown 6 inches since she isn't on a pet shop diet. Eat 6 tubs of large locust a week some prawns or fresh fish a couple of times a week. A small mouse every 2 weeks or so. But worth every penny. I have never had so much pleasure from keeping a reptile. Everyday has a different reward for building her trust. Any wau thanks for listening to my waffle and will get some better pics soon. Cheers guys.

Good pic matey, just a bit of advice tho, with the substrate you have there is a risk of when the hemipene retract they could take some of the wood chip in as well IMO.
You would be much better and safer with sand & soil mix

Hi guys, just picked up a young bosc today, about 5 inches long was told he/she is about 8-12 weeks old.
He/she is in a 4x2x2 and settling in atm, regarding the feeding, I notice some people say to feed outside of viv,
would you recommend this as I thought it was hands off for awhile, don't want stress the little guy so soon really,
the crickets are so small though I am sure they would escape if chucked in the viv?
Anyway here is quick pic, taken on my phone so not the best

Hiya Buddy
He/she looks stunning great colouration, hands off approach does work best, still do water chaning and viv maintenance, he/she will soon get used to, and not associate you as a threat, i fed mine in the viv with no problem, just put foods in when he/she is in the hide.
