Cool Rich, so really anything that's pretty cheap to replace!?!?!

Silly question, thought of this earlier, then I forgot again.
To do with the humidity - when yous talk about spraying to keep things moist, is it just a normal spray thingy that you could pick up at Homebase for plants?
yep the little plasic bottles or if you have a big viv you can get bigger pressurized ones

I think I prefer the idea of a Red to a B&W or a Blue simply for the size and almost rarity of them. The big Tegs do seem to have such a character and one that I may never get to see first hand bar on here.

Jo, in regards to a raised platform, I've given my Bosc a paving slab raised on some wood. The slab really picks up and retains the heat as well as offering a hide out for him underneath. It does mean that I have to get nose to the ground to see him before deciding which door to open.

Back again, I'm thinking about changing the substrate to a soil and sand mix as the crix keep hiding! Firstly, would the little guy be too small for such a substrate? He's about 7 - 8 inches at the mo, with impaction etc. Also, I've spotted these in homebase, would they be suffucient? What ratio would you guys recommend?

Homebase Top Soil - 25L from Homebase.co.uk

Children's Play Sand 15kg Bag. from Homebase.co.uk

Would there be any risk of any little nasties growing? I see the topsoil is sterilised, so it should be ok?

Cheers.

Hi Bud
Thats the stuff, & he will be fine with the substrate, if your just gonna use soil & sand then the ratio would be 70%soil 30%sand.
Most of us on here also use some orchid bark in the mix
which would then be 65%soil 20%sand 15%orchid bark.
Just keep an eye on the humidity when you change the substrate as the soil & san will be quite moist, and the humidity goes through the roof for a few days

Excellent, thanks, aiming for about 50 - 60% humidity is that right? If it get's too much, open the door for a bit maybe? There's quite a few vents in. I have a humidity gauge, would that be enough?

Also, I may be worrying too much, as usual, but are baby Boscs naturally clumsy?

Impaction, no worries there they're not these delicate Beardies and Geckos you know. Mine currently craps like a Jack Russel so a little soil on the feeders is no problem.
