I just made a new post then thought it wouldn't do harm to put it here aswell.

I've been on 10 minutes and I've already seen 4 Boscs for sale. Babies (suprise suprise). One of the things that gets me down on this forum.

Will people please refer to 'So you want a Sav' or the 'Monitor and Tegu' thread and thoroughly research these animals before condeming them to the rescue centre.

Also anyone who would like to get one please consider rehoming. Thanks.

Thats allways the case with monitors and tegus pal they go buy cute 8" babies and find out they are eating them out of house and home in 6 months time and cant be bothered to get them a large viv so the poor things start getting nasty...the next thing you no there up for sale or dumped

Yi know, as far as feeding goes, I think a lot of people don't realize how much it benefits you to breed your own feeders. My bf and I breed gerbils and once you're set up, the only thing you really need to buy is food. We personally use newspaper flyers as the bedding, they love to shred it up, and although people fear the inks, we stay away from glossy papers and try to avoid heavy colours. It's been working great for us. I feed them top quality gerbil food (Martin's Ham/Gerbil food is great, its a pelleted diet and the nutrients are more condensed) which I also use to feed the mice when we had them. its only costing us $10 a month ($5 for each bag.. we have two colonies going). We use pelleted food because seeded food tends to be fatty and we have enough obesity going on with large lizards! You are what you eat!!! And we add some vitamins to their water but that small bottle lasts us for months.

Not to mention the fact that because we have a Sav and an arg B&W tegu, they eat a lot of things that we do. But yeah, as far as feeders go, breeding your own will definately benefit you financially
