Indeed.

No need to risk injury to a reptile of any sort with a prey item that can damage it. Even larger lizards can be hurt by small rodents.

Also rodents have the intelligence to feel the fear and trauma from the whole experience.

I don't know of any experienced monitor or tegu keepers in the UK that feed live mammals to their well kept reps.

live feeding is only some thing to be done, if and only if your rep has refused food for a prolonged time or not feeding due to illness, to trigger the instinctive feeding response.
live feeding for the sake of it is plain wrong

Thought I'd show of some pics of my new tegu! Very happy with her, and have decided to name her Alexis.

She's hence why most the shots are through the glass and not the best quailty! Looking forward to taming her down, I've now got a nice big scratch across my wrists, and she's tried to bite me a couple of times, so will leave her alone to settle in.

All good thanks. Somehow got to save up money for a honeymoon in December and the like. No idea how that's going to go.

Argus is making a bold statement in its viv.

Thanks mate, very very pleased with her and looking forward to getting her tame, hopefully she'll get on with Midnight when she's bigger and there'll be the pitter patter of tiny tegu's at our house!
