the behavior he is displaying is NORMAL of a columbian Tegu,
i have had sucess with both of mine by consistantly handling them and sitting in an empty bath n letting them run around/over me or in a room with all escape roots blocked off. they are so much more hard work then any others, be prepared to end up with a lot of lacerations and welts, To get any where you have to be gentle but firm. it may well be he will not calm but learn to tolerate you or you may have a look but don't touch lizard. the huffing and puffing is him telling you to f off and leave him alone.

thanks for the info dont really mind if I cant hold him if thats what he decides just dont want to stress him out will keep on trying see how it goes

our golden is a look but dont touch sometimes dont even look lol but my black and white columbian is the same (female) the male i rescued and re homed was a doll though absolute babe and liked being handled so they are all diffrent.

i love gold tegus a good friend has one and hes a bit crazy to get out the viv but not aggressive and just stunning - my favourite big lizard by far(big but not huge lizard)

the one in our shop has been through 3 lots of viv glass!!!!

Me to , well maybe 2 or 3
