cheers, but i have been reading this article

Michael Balsai on the Savannah Monitor Diet

and speaking to quite a few long term keepers i know of...and it seems that if fed SENSIBLY a rodent based diet is not as bad as people may think, obviously as long as she will keep chasing locusts/crix... etc i will keep giving them for the excersize aspect more than anything, but i do believe that in all honesty...as long as you really watch their intake and weight, and also encourage excersize i.e time out of viv and shallow baths etc..it is not such a bad diet really, as it contains all the goodness and calcium they need, i also fed my last one on lots of other various things like whole eggs (would spend AGES trying to crack them open lol) and snails etc..

Rodents are good in a diet, don't get me wrong but I have seen with my own eyes what rodent diet alone can do to a Bosc. It's not nice at all. The only thing worse than this is a chick based diet.

Boscs aren't geared up to eat so many rodents although a balanced diet with rodents in is a god idea IMO.

the only side effects i have seen myself is severe obesity...but that is when they are fed solely rodents and seriously overfed them as well, at the end of the day...IF people remember that they dont NEED 2 mice a day etc, and as we said incorperate other foods into this and watch their intake i cant see a problem personaly...but as you say its down to opinion.
