I agree with bothn statements and thin more research should be avaliable on Sav diets and consequences.

I would need to go back to the vet that I had a consultation about it for the details but it's not just the weight, it's bones, skin and eyes that a rodent diet can mess up.

I'm just not willing to play with fire. I'm trying my best to replicate what it would be more likely to eat in the wild. Raw meat being included to. They are scavangers, hunters and opportunists all rolled into one.

have you read the article i linked in prev post? this guy is a very high standing long term monitor specialist...i am sure that if a bosc was severely overweight it could affect the bones due to weight strain etc...but cant see how rodent based diets would affec skin and eyes, would be interested to hear what he said if you get chance to speak to him aain about it i know fatty liver disease is a big problem too but again this is down to being seriously over fed...IMO

I've had a look but it's a case of who you speak to and what path you choose to take.

Me I just don't want to take any chances and so I do my best to replicate a relistic diet to give it the best chance.

oh i agree! totally your decision how you choose to feed yours, but personally i will feed mine a rodent based diet as she grows but SENSIBLY so...and will also add plenty of "variety" as best is possible (thank god we kept the GALS )

Snails are an integral art of a bosc's diet and thats why they have the jaw power for crushing the various moloscs they find in the wild also eaten by whitethroated and blackthroated monitors as well
