Excellent pics man and they all look well kept.

Question. I note you have a Nile Monitor there. Tell me, are they as nasty as the caresheets make them out to be? I have a chance of picking up a baby but need to do the homework firstly. I do already have an Argus, a White Throat and an Asian Water. Any advise appreciated? I should point out that I think it is an Ornate with 7 bands on the body.

Cheers

Thats the million dollar question some do calm down and indeed become quite amicable but the majority remain wary , easiest way to tell if it is an ornate is check the tongue if it's pink it's an ornate monitor and if it's blueish/black it's a nile monitor

Ornates have 5 bands between front and back shoulders and pink tongue
Commons have 7 bands between front and back shoulders and blueish/black tongue and this has came from some1 i know personally, and had the pleisure to drink tea with, who has spent more time researching monitors in their own habitat than any1 else i know of.
Hope this helps

Was almost tempted by a nile as they seem to be more common than waters and they are sooooo pretty. Reason won through in the end. Havn't the room for either really at the mo and the million dollar question was always nagging at my mind. 1 day!?! Will have a salvator 1st though. You've convinced me of that plenty of times! Gr8 pics as always btw! Keep them coming. Beautiful monitors mate.

Well if he darkens out there is always, a tan shoe polish I could use. I have seen roughies too which have been the darker variety.
