Thanks, yep he has a great feeding response, lightening fast for such a big lizard, and they way he shakes the food, well you wouldn't want that to be your hand
He is quiet viv defensive but once out he comletely changes and is great then..

Thanks, I'm pleased with him
He is a big lad wait till he tripods in front of you it give's you a bit of a fright when you turn round and your eyeball to eyeball with a five and a half foot Argus

Hi,

From the looks of that animal it is not an argus ( Papua New Guinea ) but it is indeed Varanus panoptes panoptes commonly known as the yellow spotted monitor in Australia. Argus are from PNG. I have kept and bred both sub-species and can instantly tell the difference, to a trained eye it is obvious. I even like to bet that I even bred that animal as I keep all data from the past hatchlings. The bloodline for panoptes panoptes in Europe is very limited possibly all deriving from a couple of specimens, this gives the descendents an all round similar appearance in general.

Where did you buy it from?

Am i correct in thinking that the v.p.p is a larger monitor and the tail ending has a lot of yellow colouration , also has there been a few cross breeding of v.p.p and v.p.h adding more than a little confusion to keepers, iv seen pic's of the ones you have kept (stunning)
