Just a heads up on a guy who's been trying to scam me. He emailed me last week claiming to have an adult pair of Rhacodactylus chahoua for sale. He sent me photos which I have since found on the 1st page of Google Images! lol () and says he is from Cameroon.

I believe he is targeting people via ReptileClassifieds.co.uk as I have a wanted add for a female R.chahoua on there at the moment and he said he was 'responding to my add'.

how is he scamming you, what exactly has he done? i'm just asking so you can give details so other can keep an eye out, i know you gave his name (he could have other accounts), but his methods would be good also.

I had similiar thing with ebay when i sold a mobile.Even had fake paypal emails sent,luckily i always check paypal account regardless of the email to say funds received.

Yeah need to be careful of these guys. they are very tricky but saying you are from Cameroon was stupid as no sensible person would hand over money and expect delivery from there.

Basically, he has approached me trying to sell me animals which I now strongly believe he does not own. The fact he is in Cameroon is a massive give away and he said he only wanted £100 shipped for them. This wouldnt even cover the shipping charges from Cameroon to UK (I dont know if you can even get R.chahoua in Cameroon as they are completely protected from wild catching and so would have had to be exported as CB to Cameroon at some point, which is pretty unlikely as theyre quite expensive rare lizards).

As for his methods, anyone who claims to be sending animals from Cameroon is usually a big NO NO anyway, but this guy is taking photos from google images and passing them off as the animals. He was quite cunning to use 2 images from the same person so each gecko was on the same background and it looked more like he'd taken them.
He also uses the word 'adoption' instead of sale and his english (although v.good) is sometimes a little sloppy.
