A lizard ingests too much of something it shouldn't (normally substrate) and can't pass it, so blocks up their intestines and stomach.

You will see that they don't have interest in food, they wont poo much, or at all, severe cases is then shaking, tilting their head. If any of these are shown, it is a direct trip to the vets. to provent this, keep food on a plate were they can't injest the sand.

crickets in another tub, like a faunarium to feed him, and anything that cant jump like mealworms or roaches etc put in a dish. just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt eat any sand. if you are very worried, you could remove the sand and use slate tiles/paper towel or something similar instead.

To be honest ive had plenty of success on play sand and paper towl. The only difference ive really noticed is that during breeding season where i always put in sand as its near on impossible to remove tissue from the eggs when they refuse to use their lay box. Its definatly not suitable for young geckos though. If you think your animal is impacted then its best to take them to a vet and also give them a warm bath and rub on their sides gently.
