Default URGENT! rescued LEO in terrible condition

We rescued a leo today

his history is this

he was found abandoned in a flat no heat no food etc

the people who took him have had him 6 months but have not supplemented him with calcium or anyhting

today we checked him over and took pics.

here is what we found

1. severe head wobble ( and i do means severe as some of our rescues have had mbd before and have had head wobble but not like this)
2. missing toes and extreme retained sheds on feet one foot is almost gone

3. spinal deformity.. very twisted and also dips at back

4. inability to walk.. when you hold him he falls to one side continually

5. severe bent legs at back under him

Now the question is this.. and I have never felt this way before with any of my rescues..

should i have him euthanised.. i have genuinely never seen such bad MBD his bones feel soft to the touch and he genuinely is in dreadful condition

here are the pics

Awww he's in such a bad way

I can't really say what I'd do.

I'm sure you will make the right decision for him though and good luck.

Brad

its a tough decision to make... i mean hes suffered enough already so shouldn't you put an end to it... or hes had a crap life so far, lets try and give him a good one for the rest of it?

tough call sparkle, i spose it depends on whether you think he could make a good enough recovery to enjoy life to suppose?

Ellis.

Ellis.

I am going to ask for an emergency app at vets tomorrow and explain the situation..

I dont want him to suffer if hes going to be in terrible pain

im so sad..

FECK... its really harsh rescuing at times..

I hate to say it, but I think the only thing you can do is to let him go. If you were to help him, he may get a bit better, but from the looks of it, he would have pain for the rest of his life. Yeah, thats the bad thing about rescuing, it is knowing when you have to let go, and know you couldn't do anything, and that it was the best chose for them.

I agree with you Sparkle.

It's a hell of a thing having to get an animal PTS. I was an emotional wreck after I had Binx PTS.

But you have to consider if he is going to be able to make a good enough recovery to be free from pain which from the pics it's hard to say he will.

if he's in that bad a condition that you're considering it, and you seem to have enough experience with MBD and ill reptiles, then i'd say yes. If you thought it might have a chance then the thought probably wouldn't have entered your head.

youre right meko.. I knew right away but there was a part of me just needed for someone else to say its ok... as daft as that sounds

Im not sure why.. possibly because ive never had a rescue PTS before.. but i guess part of helping animals is not allowing suffering.. it cant always be about making them well
