Default Temperature drops at night

The temp in my bds and wds tanks drop to 60degs at night. Is this to low and if so how do I increase it without keeping the light bulb on 24/7?

Thanks

It shouldn't go below 65 otherwise you got problems. I might need to do the same thing i don't know yet but your best bet wll be to fit a 60w or 100w ceramic bulb as it gives heat rather than light. Don't use heatmats or heatrocks as the beardies sense heat from the sun and not underneath them. If you use a heatmat or rock they could be getting burnt without themselves even knowing.
hope this helps. tom

60 is the very lowest it can be imo for a beardie. If it does get any colder you should use a 50w ceramic heat emitter to just get it to ~70.

I had thought about that but a 60w bulb gives off temps of around 80degs which is far too high for night time.

A 60W ceramic bulb won't give off 80F if its plugged into a thermostat. In fact, any heat source attached to a thermostat will give off the required temp.

you could attach a 'night eye' to a dimming thermostat. This will automatically make the temperature drop at night using a light sensor.

Go for a ceramic and a stat. That way, reptile gets its daylight 'light' and you can regulate the night-time (and day-time) temps.

I've got a frilled, which need similar conditions to beardies, and I use an Exo Terra 8.0 UV, an Exo Terra 150W Sun-Glo full spectrum and an Exo-Terra 100W ceramic through a stat. The ceramic only comes on to regulate temps during the day, but also to keep temp up to correct measure at night when the UV and lamp are off.

Hope this helps.

Chris.
