Coccidia is a parasitic disease, most BD's have some coccidia oocysts in small numbers, its when they are in quite high numbers that they can cause infection, diarrhoea, stomach pain etc.

The treatment may kill all the good bacteria, so worthwhile getting something like Avipro to help put the good bacteria back.

my beardie had small numbers of coccidia oocysts and my vet said he wouldnt normally treat it but he was going to with mine as she'd stopped poo-ing!!! It cleared with antibiotics though so good luck with him and hopefully it should clear soon
