how do i go about reporting a pet shop

im absolutely appalled,i went to a pet shop today havent been there in a while as the living conditions of the reptiles are discusting not to mention the fury pets,he had a tokay in 1 tank 2 golden gecks in another and a hatchling bosc (which he claimed was 6 mnths) these tanks only had bark chips and a water bowl,no hides or plants,the baby corn was in a minute faunarium on dirty sand,spiders were shrivelled in the cornes of thier faunariums, i must say he knows all,i told him my boa was preg before and he was trying to sell me an incubator for the eggs (boas have live young) he sold a girl a royal which was emaciated not surprising as he sold them pinkie mice for this 3ft royal,i could tell you a hundred more stories,ive reported to the rspca twice and they dont seem to have done anything, where else can i turn?

Get in touch with the council. Ask them. Im sure they will put you through to right people x x

i reprted a pethop that i know to the rspca and to the council. the women on the phone told me the petshop owner didnt have a licence to sell reptiles but nothing changed! they are still selling animals and they are still in the same conditions as before!

Talk to the owner of the shop first, take them evidence of their bad keeping and ask them if they need asstance with gathering proper knowledge of the care the animals need, share your concerns etc.

If they tell you to bugger off, write a letter or ring your local council, provide them with photographic evidence and explanations of your worries otherwise they'll probably just go to the shop, be convinced by the owner that everything is ok and then do nothing. If you can get pictures and evidence of bad keeping than it's better than nothing..!

thanks for your help ppl,i remember 2yr ago i went in there (i totally refuse to buy or sell anything there) there was a baby beardie floating in a lg water bowl and another baby trying to chew it,sick! ill try get photo evidence of the conditions.

How are some people able to keep them like that?

I'm not the most perfect keeper in the world - i sometimes forget to change the water in bowls that look clean or miss a days tank spot cleaning as it was clean when i checked or only mist once a day on some days, but those conditions in the pet shop are just insanely bad. I hope the people higher up listen and help put it right.

Hit them on a head with a stick and then steal the animals

However tempting that may be unfortunately rather illegal. But I would go to your council and cause a HUUUGE fuss. If you threaten to go to the papers and things they soon get their backsides into gear
