Default butter worm, silk worm & phoenix worm help.

As some of you may know we have a leopard gecko that wont feed, she hasnt eaten anything other than two wax worms and a mario worm in six weeks!

her temps are fine (90degrees) and her living conditions are not causing her problems as she is on kitchen roll and lives on her own.

I have tried giving her a luke warm bath, and she is pooping properly.

we have tried to feed her on meal worms, crickets and locusts but NOTHING other than wax worms will interest her!!!!

does anyone think that trying her on either Butter worm, silk worm or phoenix worm will help???

Its like she is being overally fussy but she has lost 6grams in weight over the past six weeks, so cant let her lose any more.

the thing is if I left a pot of wax worms in front of her she would gobble up the lot, its so odd. I was just thinking seeing as though butter worms, silk worms & phoenix worms look a bit like wax worms it might get her to eat them. It was strange with the Mario as she has never had them before but it was like she had to have it just to see what it tasted like.

Trevor, my beardie, wouldn't eat anything but waxworms for a while (the vet said I should give them to him after he was really ill and off his food). I stopped them completely about a month ago (and I don't think I'm ever going to buy them again) and couldn't get him to eat more than 3 or 4 small locusts every couple of days but when I offered phoenix worms he went mad for them.

He is now eating about 60 a day which is costing me a fortune but he is actively feeding himself from his bowl now for the first time in months (didn't do that even on the wax worms) plus today he has eaten roaches too.

I'm hoping now the phoenix worms have stimulated his appetite again he will start to eat roaches as his staple - I had just started a colony when he stopped eating, now it's absolutely teeming!

so are the phoenix worms a lot more healthier for them? I really dont want to give her any wax worms as we have a frog who became addicted to them who we now have to syringe feed every night.

phoenix worms are a very good staple - low chitin, high protein, high calcium and not too high in fat (just a bit higher than crickets). They are a healthy food, possibly one of the best which is why I decided to try them even though it's costing me a fortune at the moment
