Default local reptile shop

i went into my local pet shop in witney, oxfordshire on saturday to look at there reptiles. they had chameleon ( yemen ) in there for sale. must of been 8 months onld and it was kept in a viv no bigger than 1 ft high 1ft depth and 1.5ft wide.

whats your opinions on this?
it just i dont like to see any animal especially reptiles kept in conditions that dont suit them.

a reptile shop by us keep theirs in vivs around 1ft wide by 1 1/2ft tall, but their only babies, and theres about 3-4 in 1 tank..
no wear near the size of 1 thats around 8months old!

was it up for sale and did it have room to move around?

if it was up for sale im sure it isnt planned to be kept in the enclosure for long

yeah i agree but u got 2 think aswell.. IF the person who wants 2 buy the cham see's it in a tank that size their going to think 'oh i dont NEED a bigger tank 4 it' .. but like u said, aslong as its got enough room 2 move around then its not 2 much of a problem.

hi yes its for sale.
but has been for a while know i fink.
it looked pretty lifeless and it was jus laying flat on the bottom of the viv which is pretty unusual for chams seen as they like hights hmmm

did u ask the people/person in the shop what was happening with...my advise would be to ask them as im sure we dont understand the whole situation

i didnt ask them about it. but from what i know it shouldnt really be kept in a viv that size at all, even more so when its 8 months +. it was for sale but chameleons need to be able to climb whatever the situation.

depends on the situation, you did not ask so for all you know there could be an issue like the cham falls down due to some sort of illness so providing a high tank means it could fall from a height and injur its self, where as if it fell from the top of the small viv it wont urt itself or at least not as badly as falling from the top of a higher viv, there are various reasons why it would be being kept like that, you cannot persecute a shop until you know the full story.
