Default do i have 2 males and 2 females??

I have 4 leopard geckos, who are all housed sepratly 1 is a male and he is in the viv on the right hand side with another leo (who i think could be a male) above him. I then have 2 more leos in a viv on the left hand side one on top of each other. The guys on the right hand side seem to scratch at the glass alot and look as if they want to get out, but the 2 on the left hand side do not do this. Also when i put the male against the glass of the viv above him, both geckos shake their tails and slap it on the ground, but if i hold him up to the other 2 on the left hand side neither of them do this, they wonder up to the glass look at him and either walk off or sit there. I repeated this with the leo who lives on the right hand side above my male and he did the same. When he came face to face with the 2 on the left hand side they just looked at him etc.. but when held up to the male they both did the same thing with their tales. I know they do this when they are peed off about somthing and also when it comes to mating.. Could it be that i have 2 males and 2 females?

Also is the scratching thing normal??

Many thanks
emx

the best way to check if your geckos are male or female is to gently turn them upside down and check for hemi-penial swellings at the base of the tail. Males also have pores on the base of thier tails. Search around on the internet or for pictures in books. They are quite easy to sex! Males will fight as well, and i read somewhere that only males wiggle thier tails, especially when they see another male.
The scratching is normal i think, my male did it till i housed him with the females and now he just sits around all day!
hope that helps!
