Question just read the care sheet for bosc a few questions for ya all

right in the caresheet on boscs and have a few questions

it says boscs like soil is this compost has i use compost for my snails and wondered if i could use it for the bosc too ?

it also said u can use earthworms for them too and snails i have lots of slugs near me too can i use these for it as well cos a snail is only a slug with a shell
also i have a 4inch by 3inch by 3 inch viv that is not in use and was going to use it for the bosc will this viv be too small for it when it is full grown if the viv is only used as a sleepin place as this viv will be open most of the time in the day and only closed at night for sleepin ?

i have no got this bosc yet and would like to know as much as i can about them befor i get one so i hope u guys can help me out with this

Soil n sand substrate mate

Sterile topsoil B & Q 70/30% mix

as for viv size juvi 4 by 2 by 2

adult anything upwards of a 6 by 3 by 3

Ambient temp 85F

Basking spot 115F to 130F

Humidity 60%

Food:
Locusts/crickets/snails/worms/cockroaches/mealworms/appropriately sized rodents/chicks

Juvis As much as will eat in a week till around 18inches then slow down and watch weight carefully

With regards to slugs n snails out the garden feed them cabbage/other veg for a month first as it flushes out there system of all toxins etc.

thanks very much for that info

so i get the mix from BnQ do i have a name of the stuff i will need so i can ask them when i go for it ?

and what lighting will i need to get the baskin spot the high has this viv was used for a sanke and dosn't get that high

and were would be the best place to get the baskig light from and what price range

The soil is just B & Qs topsoil - check for wrigglys

Best place for sand is argos - playsand.

As for the positioning of the basking light at one end of the viv to create a thermal gradient.

some people say uv others say not - use uv simply because theyd get it in the wild and it cant hurt.

As for bulbs a standard spot light should do it until it gets older then read the heating large vivs sticky.

so a reflector blub like what i have for my snake but 100 watt one ?

with a cover as i dont want burns i also have a heatmat in the viv too should i keep that in too ?

Scrap the heatmat for a bosc mate get an overhead ceramic with a gaurd and on a pulse thermostat - best way to regulate temps for a bosc.

They like to bask in heat and light that come from above them.

The bulb sounds ok as well so long as its a white one - guarded would be a good idea to.

With a 100watt one stat it as well dimmer stat just to keep a close eye on the temps.

4inch by 3inch by 3inch won't even fit a leopard gecko. How could you put a monitor in it? The only way you could get it in is maybe if it was dead and contorted.

hahahahaha sorry it late it a 4foot by3foot by3foot lol it was for my brum but she is not in a 8foot lol sorry for the miss post lol
