hey guys i was in my local rep shop and overheard a conversation between sum teenager and the owner, the lad asked for sum live pinkies, the shop owner went mental at him and said it was illegal to feed live pinkies.....is he right? just got me thinkin thats all.

They can't sell live pinkies for food although if you bred them at home you'd be alright.

i think you can do it in certain circumstances for example, if you cannot feed you snake, sometime a pinkie gets it going.. after trying lots of other ways that is, its the last try.

I dont think someone is alowed to sell you live food if they know it is for a reptile, as far as I am aware you can breed your own to feed live but are not alowed to use the parent rodents,

It's not legal for the shop to sell those pinkies, but if you breed your own as others have said it is technically not illegal - technically though, the RSPCA may have grounds to prosecute IF they felt that it was cruel to the mouse, and/or undue suffering was being caused unnecessarily - but it's not happened yet.

A shopkeeper could lose their license over selling the pinky though.

It isnt ilegal to live feed your reps it doesnt matter if the snake or lizard is feeding or not some people just like to live feed, The problem is getting the food like dextersdad said you can just walk into a pet shop and buy them by the dozen so you would need to breed them or no someone that does...not my thing tho

cheers guys, yeah i'm not into it either but just thought the shop owners reaction was a bit overboard, can see y now tho. i think the lad was having problems with his snake not feeding.
