Default Exo terra heatmat........burnt through itself!!!

Today I Will be filing a complaint against exo terra.

Despite hearing a lot about problems with exo heatmats, I thought I'd give it a go, figuring so long as its on a stat it would be fine.

A Glass viv, did everything properly, divider between the glass and heatmat to prevent the glass shattering, and had the tank slightly raised so there's no direct pressure on the heatmat.
set on a thermostat, round about 80.

If I hadn't been changing my electrics today i wouldn't have known, Its only small but thats besides the point, and I dread to think what could have happened.

Its burned through its own protective casing.

I could've lost all my animals, even my home!

I was shaking when I found it.

I actually have had stress dreams before about fires and losing my animals, and now finding this I'm still shaking.

No sleep for me tonight

hmmm, is there an issue with exo-terra mats then? i have a spare rainforest one i was going to use to warm the bottom of my tall CWD tank but if they suffer issues like that? especially on orchid bark, what a fire hazard.

Already been through all mine, am really stressing about it.

My reptiles are at my mums, but I'm stopping at my dads this weekend to look after his girlfriend's kids, the dogs and his reps while he's on his holiday.

That was the only exo one I had, the rest are all on stats too, and are habistat and zoo-med.

Am still stressing though.
