Question Heating in Cresties tank

I've got a smallish plastic tank ready for when my crestie turns up, but I keep worrying about the temperatures in it.
I bought a heat mat that I keep on one side of the tank and during the day it measures between 70-71 degrees but only drops by a few degrees when it's off at night. The heat mat seems to be pretty rubbish and not doing it's job as I keep reading how the tank needs to be around 75 degrees during the day.

Will these temperatures be ok?
And what would you recommend I buy for heating when the crestie is old enough to move into the exo terra tank?

Id double check with another thermometer if I were you that sounds particularly cold if you are using a heatmat.
