Default What happens to all these Monitors and Tegus

I have recently been very interested in owning either a bosc monitor or B&W tegu. Now I have space in the room for an 8x3 but thats as big as I can go, and I class myself as lucky that I can accomodate such a large enclosure but as you know this is not big enough to house said species. So where does everyone keep them as I cant see that every person who owns said species has rooms dedicated to there lizards and lots of people own mulitple huge lizards. I am very curious and would love to hear what people do as I am very keen to own one but would never buy an animal unless I could accomodate it for life.

why is an 8x3 not big enough?

sounds fine to me, for a bosc at least, not too sure on tegs.

I have a rep room and when I need to accomodate a large bosc I will be building a viv of the above size.

Others have garages/lofts ect that are used to house thier animals, either a large stack of big vivs or sectioned off parts of those rooms/spaces within thier houses.

what 5ft lizard?
bosc & tegs very very very rarely get to 5ft in captivity, norm is 3.5 to 4ft.
this 8 x 4 x 4 min is some what confusing as each individual is different, some will use every inch you give them, while others don't. also as adults they are very lazy sleeping and basking or in the cool end most of the time, this is when you as the keeper have to find ways to stimulate them into activity.

Yeah I can understand that I just am very keen but as you are aware lots of conflictinf info and I would not want to purchase something I couldnt keep for life. What sp. of monitor and tegu could be housed in an 8x3. Also what height would be best 2 or 3ft or something in the middle.

a bosc or a teg will be ok in a 8 x 3 x 3. no less then 3ft height, as you'll need to provide a good depth of substrate for digging opportunities for both.
as long as they have time out to roam and for baths you won't have a problem
