Default Depth Perception

I was feeding Smaug some Dubia roaches yesterday- and I saw the strangest thing happen.

He was standing over this roach ready to devour it, and when he went in for the kill he couldn't seem to work out that his head needed to be closer to eat it.

He's had dubia roaches before and he wolfed them down. Mainly because I think it was a new thing, that Smaug was well up for having a taste of!
First time I've seen him do that though :S

all 3 of my leos have done this too, every time i move them up a size of locust, they seem to think that because it's bigger, it's closer. they learn pretty quick though, and now all 3 are full on locust killing machines
