Default Yellow Headed Dwarf Gecko

Evening all, we've got one of these and we are trying to find 2 females, we have searched everywhere but dont want to pay £25-£30 postage on something that only costs £10-£15 to buy, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone who owns these too, it would be great to see some pics of yours?

Where abouts are you? Nobody can let you know of any for sale locally if they don't know where you live!

Also what species (scientific name) are you looking for.....there are a few small gecko species with yellow heads.....

Profile updated, not sure about species as we are reasonably new to this, all we know is that its called a yellow headed dwarf gecko! if you know of a good site related to the identification of these it would be a great help as we have struggled trawling the net!

I would suspect it's most likely to be Lygodactylus luteopicturatus and at that kind of price, it's almost definately WC.
Gonatodes albogularis also have a yellow/orange head but are much rarer so this is much less likely.

You'll find the best place for information on the less commonly kept species can be found on gecko specific forums. The best I've found is Geckos Unlimited.....they have a specific section for Lygodactylus sp. and Gonatodes sp. (Other Day Geckos).

Hope this helps

Indeed they could......I forgot to add that species to my list of possibilities .

This is why I prefer to use scientific names......there is so much confusion when it comes to 'common names', especially with the less well known species.

Hi

I have two of these and would like to get two females aswell. I have a Yellow Headed Dwarf Gecko Lygodactylus Picturatus and a White Headed Dwarf Gecko Lygodactylus picturatuc.

Can you let me know where you have seen them on the net.

As has been said, these are most likely Lygodactylus picturatus (also commonly sold as L. luteopicturatus), and where ever you get them from they will be WC. For this reason I would always recommend going to see them in person, as recent imports will almost certainly have internal AND external parasites which is not a good place to start. Most reptile shops will be able to order these in for you, and that way you'll be able to take a good look at them.

There is a care sheet on my website if you need to know some basics:Care Sheets

Also, all lygodactylus are very territorial, so please don't be tempted to house multiple males together.

Andy

Had some of these for awhile now and as Glasgowgecko says dont be tempted to keep more than one male together. Also found females can also be very territorial so I believe they are best kept in pairs or at very least must be similar sized animals.

Ive found them rather easy to keep once thev'e settled and am waiting on eggs of all three types at the moment.

The 3 most commonly available are the Kimhowelli, Picturatus and Williamsi. I think the most difficult to sex are the Kimhowelli but can be done by looking at the Beared as in males full black throat and females have a stripped less colourfull beared, and males have the hemipenal bulges.

Hope these pics help you with the particular Gecko you have.

Female Kimhowelli

Pair of Williamsi

Female Picturatus

Male Picturatus Huge tail compared to female.

Theres also caresheets here Lygodactylus.com
