Default paper towel substrate

hi

soon to get 2 cresties....viv all set up etc ready

as they are babies i have read it best to use paper towel substrate....just wondering why not just use bare viv bottom i.e the glass?

i see problems with maintenance as to remove the use paper, i would have to remove the decoration etc first each time

opinions appreciated

Yes kitchen roll is the best thing to use with a baby crested gecko

Why would you have to move things to take the paper out?

it's just easier to clean because mostly you can just pull it out and replace it, whereas crestie poo and urates can really stick to the glass and be a pain to scrub off!!

some of the vines etc start from the flooring working their way up so the paper towel needs to be under them, so will need moving etc each time....is it daily for the paper to be changed?

Depends how quickly the paper gets dirty. I change mine every couple of days even if it does not look dirty though.

another main factore for paper towel, is that it holds the moisture, helping create more humidity for your little cresties.

Nobody has asked how big these cresties are, I dont have any of mine on paper as I think it looks shit and is about as lien to them as eating mars bars.

Its worth using when you first get to check if they are eating and pooing and in my book thats about all. So its easier to clean! a bio viv is even easier as it looks after itself.

They will mainly poo on the glass anyway, well most of mine do one prefers a log where it climbs!

it says in the original post, BABIES.. There for its best to use paper towel, once there sub adult you may consider a more natural substrate for them. Thats my opinion, not a fact.
