Unhappy Must be doing someting wrong!!

I have a baby bosc monitor he's 6mths and when we got him we were told he was friendly but may 'open his mouth to us' the first time we tried to touch him as we were strangers. Well when we got him home we discovered this was not the case. I have been spending a lot of time trying to gain his trust but even if i so much as put my hand in the viv he attacks me. As soon as we open the viv he hisses, feeing and chaing water is a nightmare. I will not go in the viv without my hubbys biker gloves on . I don't just want to sell/rehome him, i would like to keep him but with two young children and more pets i'm worried i'll have a 5ft monitor who still attacks. Any help would be great as i'm starting to think he's not happy here which is why he's not getting any better despite spending 4hrs plus in his viv a day.

my friend had this with his... try putting in an item of clothing that you've worn for a while... even if its just a tshirt you sleep in for a couple of nights, then pop this in the viv ... when he realises your scent is in his viv and not hurting him he may tame a bit... this worked for my friend anyway... now he wanders around the room and is really friendly with anyone
