Default Little flying *******'S!

Alright, I guess a lot of you have seen my previous posts about small, flying gnat like insects around my gecko's vivarium.

Well I've cleaned it out, even to the degree of soaking it in watered down chemicals and then hosing it down to rinse them all out. However a day passes and they keep coming back!

I've removed every little bit of organic material they can feed on apart from basic greens to feed the locusts and they wont go away.

I'm starting to think that they might be coming from the lizard, but she doesn't have any real signs of boils, scars or wounds where they can be coming from.

Are there any suggestions on how I can get rid of them once and for all?

I have these to with some of my reps, they are a little annoying aren't they?

I think they come from the substrate or cork bark

we have the occassional tiny little fly
i have just learned to live with it
we also have springtails (i believe their called, tiny tiny white things) in the orchid bark substrate
neither seem to bother or harm our day geckos in any way and apparently the springtails break down poop, which is only a good thing as far as i'm concerned

apparently microwaving your substrate can kill off the springtail eggs, but i like my little white cleaning helpers

I have these in our rep room, think they came from a bag of orchid bark we got absolutely ages ago, it also came with a nice population of mites, so the orchid bark is long gone as are the mites, but the flys are still here, cant be bothered with trying to get rid of em they have never done any harm appart from being anoying

Default Okay

Sorry they are really getting on my nerves. It could be from the foam backgronud I bought, which I accidently destroyed getting out of the viv. They just get on my nerves.

I have cultures of fruit flies in my rep 'room' for mantids, and i always find them in viv's, i dont really see the problem, but by putting a peice of bannana down, catch some and remove.

Default Arg!

Okay, this is now beyond a joke. This morning there were a handful of these flies near the viv, now there are close to 50 inside it! I'm not sure what to do as I've cleaned the whole thing 3 times and they keep coming!

take a picture of them, I would like to see what they are. it must be the substraight, something has layed some egg's and their hatching out from it due to the heat and conditions inside the viv.

Default Well

They are on stone tiles.. I am taking a picture but I have not idea how good it's going to be because they are so small.

Nope, they move too fast they become a blur under my camera. The best description is just about a mm in length with brownish black bodies and clear/white wings who sort of fly lazily at random.
