I have seen some people using eco-earth as a substrate for leopard geckos?

Questions:

1. Is it safe?
2. Would it have to be COMPLETELY dry before adding to the leopard gecko viv?

3. if its not safe then how come some people use it?

i asked in cadubry garden centre the other day and they told me its no good for leos, can't remeber exactly why though sorry :/

and the reason people use it, i wouldv'e thought, is mainly from pet shops giving wrong information

thats not actually true...you should exchange it for something else :O

and i would think that eco-earth keeps too much moisture in leading to RI and that

as above, mis-information. calci sand is the worst subsrate for leo's, it's not degestable, cause impoaction which can kill. it' clumps up like kitty litter when wet, give it a go, make same damp and then think, thats what's happening inside your leo's tummy.

the best thing for leo's is a non loose substrate such as tiles, lino, some people use kitchen roll, repi carpet, anything they can't eat basically.
