Default Possible impaction?

Hi,

On Wednesday I purchased a CB09 hatchling Leo, I currently have her in a RUB with a heat mat (coupled to a stat) which is set to 90*F.

She is active at night and she's fed recently (she took three crickets on the day that I purchased her and had four mealworms last night). I've just checked her over and I can see a faint-ish dark patch on the centre-right side of her body and a very small dark spot about 1cm above this.

The shop (which I will only name via PM) was keeping her on 'bird-sand' (god knows why!).

Also here's a picture of her, she isn't visibly swollen around the belly and she seems in an otherwise healthy condition.

Has she pooped at all? The dark patches MAY just be food in her belly - hard to tell without seeing photo of underside. But if she is eating and pooing ok then it is unlikely to be impaction. However if you are worried then only a vet can tell you for sure.

She has passed stools once or twice, the patches are quite pronounced however they seem to be very regular in shape. Is it possible that they're the organs inside?

Possibly - baby Leos skin is very thin so "insides" are more visible. hard to say without photos

Photos will certainly help, but it sounds completely ordinary to me, the liver being the larger dark mass and the gall bladder or stomach being the smaller area above

Hey Luke,

If it's any consolation one of my leos is exactly the same and he's never been on sand at all. Chances are it's her organs and you don't need to worry

I don't know where I'd be without this forum, thanks guys!

The reason as to why I panicked is because I never saw this kind of thing on my first two geckos.

I've just had another look and I've just noticed that 'she' is actually a 'he' as this particular gecko has femoral pores just above the genitals. I can also see that 'he' is about to pass some more faeces, probably the meal worms from last night.

I'll let you know how I get on.
