Default Bulb question BD

Hi All

At the moment I have a 4ft by 2ft high tank for my bearded dragon. In the summer (well crap summer) the 100watt bulb was sufficient and kept his temps right. At the moment with the house being slightly cooler its not getting the tank to the right temperature, i.e. cool end is reaching a max of about 79F.

So what bulb can I get now? Im worried that a 150watt bulb will make the tank too hot under the basking spot? The 100watt gets it just right but the 150watt bulb at full chat is going to fry my BD if it gets too hot.

My thermostat probe is right down the cool end at the moment at about 1 inch above floor level.

Thanks

Your beardies will be ok as long as their basking spot doesn't get any hotter than around 105f - 115f, a cool end around 90-95f daytime. Nightime temps can drop to 75f-80f. Hope this helps.

Oh right ok. 90-95F sounds very warm? Normally the suggestion is 85F or at least thats what I've always abided to.
