Talking New Owner. I love my Crested gecko.

I didnt get time towrite this last night but anyways:

Ive had my crested gecko 10 days, who knew they could get so used to there surroundings!
I went out for dinner last night as left his fruit out too defrost, and didnt think it would be ready before i went out.
Well anyways I read that geckos become more active during the night if its hot and seeing as i accidently left his light on yesterday and the curtains open. And had to go back straight after school to give him a quick mist and shut one curtain and turn the light off. Coz i was stressign out about him over heating.

Anyways, sorry bout dragging this out but i dont know how to put this all.

But i got back from restaurant at about 9:15pm and i went back to see where he moved and id left his bowl out to dry from washing it. And he was sitting at the outside of the inprint of where the bowl was! Dont you think that was cute.

I am officially declaring him vegetarian. They said he was feeding on crickets and he wont go near them and some how there escaping from his cage. And i am petrified of them i bought standard and once i gut loaded them they were wayyyy too big so had to set them free and then bought some small one and he wont eat them either! So they get to bw set free somewhere else aswell. :L

The people at the pet shop said that he should be kept at temps of 30 :O which means there full of which is way above what they should be kept at! And he does eat crickets aswell but they were right about his health and everything. Just temps and crickets! But i suppose thats how they make money aint it, its there job :L ahh well. I think he's used to his surroundings now soim going to get him out. Hopefully he wont stress. It has been long enough hasnt it?

Anyways I love my Buddy.
I will put some pictures up soon, when i get him out later.

Thanks for reading. Well done!!!
Really happy with him

10 days seems a good time to wait to establish feeding routines..

if hes eating well and calm you can certainly look at handling now.. perhaps on a bed so if he decides to jump he doesnt have far to fall and trust me they can jump really far...

good luck!!!

You can also feed crestie ocassionally waxworms.. for treats

It has always been illegal to release non native organisms in the wild in the uk :S

from defra:
"It is illegal to allow any animal which is not ordinarily resident in Great Britain, or is listed on Schedule 9 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, to escape into the wild, or to release it without a licence. You must therefore carefully consider the long- term arrangements for how the animal will be housed throughout its stay in the country.
If you are importing a non-native animal into Great Britain with the intention of releasing it into the wild you must apply for a release licence. Licences are considered on a case by case basis and are likely to be granted only in exceptional circumstances. Before any licence could be granted you would have to provide an impact assessment examining the possible consequences for the local environment, economic interests such as forestry, farming, and fishing, public health, and impacts on local biodiversity."

You should kill crickets rather than releasing them into the wild
